Alcatel-Lucent - Empower

Program supported by the Alcatel-Lucent Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Alcatel-Lucent. This program emphasizes the company’s commitment to help improve the lives of people in some of India’s disadvantaged communities, not only through direct financial assistance but also through the engagement of Alcatel- Lucent employees. The Alcatel-Lucent Foundation has committed a total of US$205,000 to five non governmental organizations (NGOs) in India over the next two years. The Empower program will benefit close to 500 disadvantaged youth, in particular girls and young women with educational opportunities and life skills training.

Through this program Alcatel-Lucent will work with the following NGOs.
- SOS Children’s Villages of India Delhi - Operates kindergartens in villages and encourages youngsters to enroll for professional or vocational courses
- Faith Foundation, Delhi – Runs a school for children, vocational and healthcare centre for women and community-building activities
- Bandra East Community Centre, Mumbai - Counseling, rehabilitation and formal school education to street children
- Good Life Centre, Chennai - Provides educational support to children
- ARUWE, Chennai - Provides opportunities for children to learn skills that will help them in their everyday lives.
